ALS Implementers Go To Region VI & X
by: Dr. Roger Torres Lustestica, Jr.

The Bureau of Alternative Learning System (BALS) is recently conducting the Immersion and Exchange Program for ALS Mobile Teachers for those hired in 2007 on April 24-26, 2012. It can be recalled that the Immersion and Exchange Program started way back in 2004.

It aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of mobile teachers specifically in advocacy and social mobilization in the community. This is a mechanism to provide an avenue for them in the form of in-service training sharing with each other the learning experiences for professional advancement. They will bring their own wealth of experience to the new place of assignment and at the same time acquire new insight and learning from other regions.

The region sent twelve (12) mobile teachers assigned in Western Visayas (Region VI). The seat of the regional office is in Iloilo City. Mr. Rolando Regalado, one of the members of the Regional Core of Trainers (COT), now Elementary School Principal in the Division of Catanduanes joined said activity serving as team leader of the group.

On the other hand, the ALS Mobile Teachers of CARAGA Region came with a team of seven (7) and their team leader to Region V assigned at Division of City Schools, Naga City hosting the significant activity.

In another development, last March 5-9, 2012, the Kumustahan sa Barangay or Inter-Regional ALS Monitoring and Evaluation which is also a yearly activity, eleven (11) Education Supervisors I and one (1) Education Supervisor II were assigned to Northern Mindanao (Region X) covering the Divisions of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao el Norte, Gingoog City, Ozamis City, Tangub City, Malaybalay City, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City, Oroquieta City and Valencia City for the Immersion and Exchange Program. This served as an avenue for advocacy and social mobilization, adopting best practices and acquiring insight and learning leading to the successful implementation of ALS programs and projects in those areas for replication by educational leaders of ALS in Region V towards community development.
